John Pohlner, Ph.D.

… studied biology with a focus on molecular biology and biochemistry at the Ruprecht-Karls-University (Heidelberg, Germany). He performed his graduate studies at the Max-Planck Institutes in Tübingen and Heidelberg and received his PhD from the University in Heidelberg 1988. Before joining Evotec (Hamburg, Germany), Dr. Pohlner held a position as an assistant professor at the Max-Planck Institute for Biology in Tübingen (Germany) where he received his habilitation in 1996.

In 1994 Dr. Pohlner joined Evotec AG in Hamburg and contributed to the successful development of this German biotech company in various management positions. From 1994 to 1999 he was responsible for a number of major collaborative programs with companies and research institutions including the controlling of such collaborations. In 1999 he co-founded the spin-off company Evotec Neurosciences GmbH (ENS; Hamburg) where he acted as CSO and Managing Director until 2008. After the buyback of ENS and until joining Bionamics GmbH in 2009, John Pohlner held the position of a Senior Vice President Project and Alliance Management at Evotec.
